Prior to co-founding Ambienta, Nino worked within the Telecom Italia group (2002-2007), first as CEO of Finsiel, the €1.2bn IT systems integrator and subsequently as General manager of Olivetti, the IT hardware and systems producer. At Finsiel he increased the EBIT margin from 4.7% to 7.3% and increased ROI from 18% to 33%. At Olivetti he pioneered the move into inkjet printers and the outsourcing of production.
In 1997, Nino founded Cam Tecnologie (Camfin group, now Pirelli Eco Technology) to develop clean technologies and products. The most important product developed was a low environmental impact fuel (branded Gecam), a diesel-in-water emulsion alternative to traditional diesel fuel for transportation. Gecam reached 20% market share in the Italian Public Transportation market with eight production facilities and turnover of > €50m, with operations in France, the Czech Republic and China. Cam Tecnologie also built some of the earliest Italian wind farms.
Prior to 1997 he worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co and started up the environmental business within the practice.
Nino was founder and vice-chairman of the Italian Kyoto club from 1999 to 2004.
He has a degree (cum laude) in Business Administration from Luiss University, Rome, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.
Prior to co-founding Ambienta, Rolando worked for McKinsey & Co for 28 years (1969-1997). During this time he founded the Spanish and Portuguese practices, managed the Italian practice and worked in the Toronto and Geneva offices. He served for two years in the Principals’ committee and for eight years in the Directors’ committee. He served over 100 clients in a variety of industries, including utilities and energy.
Since 1997, he has been active as an investor in the food sector, the internet sector and more recently in the renewable energy sector. He was co-founder and the first Chairman of Atmos (2005-2006), a renewable energy investment club. He was the main investor and Chairman (2005-) of IGP Ambiente an investment vehicle in renewable energies. He is also the founder and Chairman of IGPartners, a consulting / M&A boutique focused on cleantech, renewable energy and climate change mitigation (2004).
Rolando has a degree in Economics from Bocconi University and a PhD in Business and Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton).
Mauro joined Ambienta in January 2008 as a Partner. Before Ambienta, he worked for SG Capital Europe Advisors (SGCEA) for over seven years, since 2004 as a Partner. SGCEA is a dedicated company advising a number of private equity closed end funds denominated SG Capital Europe Fund I, II and III, with over €500 million of committed capital provided by primary investors including Goldman Sachs, Société Générale and other private equity investors from the US and Europe.
Mauro led the acquisition of majority stakes in Lince (business information), AEB (food ingredients), Co. Import (retail) and Moleskine (branded notepads) in Italy. Abroad, in his capacity of member of the investment committee, he played a leading role in the analysis and execution of approximately ten other deals covering an array of industrial and service sectors. His professional experience includes the management of two special situations and three successful exits.
He began his career in 1995 with the Zodiac Group in Paris in the business development team and soon becoming responsible for the Eastern European markets. He then joined the Group operations in the US to participate in the development of the professional division of the group and moved back to Italy in 1999.
He gained an MBA from the SDA Bocconi University in December 2000.
Stefano Bacci joined Ambienta in March 2012 as a Partner. Prior to this, he worked for Palamon Capital Partners in London (€1.1 billion capital under management), where he was a partner for nine years (2000-2009). Stefano was in charge of investments in numerous European companies and was involved in some highly successful deals such as Teamsystem (4.1x, 52% gross IRR) and Sigla in Italy, and Dress-For-Less (3.0x, 41% gross IRR) in Germany.
Before Palamon, Stefano worked for eight years as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (Milan, Stockholm, Helsinki), focusing on European industrial companies and contributing to the start-up of the Scandinavian office. In 2010, Stefano co-founded the real estate fund VS Invest Ltd (London), with responsibilities for strategy and fund raising.
He began his career in Switzerland in Ciba-Geigy (Basel), where he started as a scientist in the Applied Mathematics department, with a post-doctoral contract, and eventually progressed to a more commercial role in the plastic polymer stabilizers business unit.
Stefano speaks a number of languages, including German, and brings to Ambienta almost thirty years of experience, gained with European companies in different industrial sectors and countries. More importantly, he has a particularly successful track record as an investor in European small and medium enterprises.
Stefano has a degree in chemical engineering from the Politecnico University of Milan and MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics and MIT in Boston.
Rudolf Ohnesorge advises Ambienta in scouting and developing investment opportunities in German speaking and Scandinavian countries.
Between 2008 and 2012, he was Managing Partner of Siemens Financial Services (SFS), within SFS's €800 million private equity group. He successfully established a Growth Capital programme investing into small- and mid-sized industrial companies primarily in Europe and the US. He spent most of his time in the environmental sector given Siemens' priorities as the world's largest environmental products company.
Between 2003 and 2008, Rudolf had been part of the management of a €500 million division at Infineon Technologies AG, where he had established their ‘Identification' business unit reaching more than €150 million in annual revenue and high profitability. Prior to that, Rudolf had been a founding team member and Managing Director of Infineon's investment arm, investing into high growth businesses in the US and Israel, such as Formfactor (NASDAQ: FORM), Saifun (acquired by Spansion), LightLogic (acquired by Intel) and Broadbus (acquired by Motorola).
During his career, he held numerous board roles at companies in Germany and in the US eg, most recently with publicly listed Realtime Technology AG (R1T).
Rudolf has a Masters in Industrial Engineering & Business Management (Honors) from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany and a Masters degree in Strategic Management from Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), Paris, France.

Laura Della Chiara joined Ambienta in July 2008. From 2005, until joining Ambienta, she worked with Aletti Merchant, where she developed valuable experience in financial analysis, financial modeling and valuations concerning merchant banking and advisory transactions. She worked on many renewable energy projects, including a joint venture for the production of bio-fuels and an advisory mandate for the financing of wind farms. From the end of the 2007, following the merger with Efibanca, she worked mainly on structured finance, focusing on the financing of leveraged buy-outs. She started her career as junior consultant in Prometeia Spa.
Laura holds a master degree with a major in business finance and a post graduate degree in Risk Management at the Bocconi University of Milan.
Giancarlo Beraudo joined Ambienta in July 2010. From 2008, until joining Ambienta, he worked in the London office of Rhône, a mid-market private equity firm investing throughout Europe, North and South America. At Rhône, he evaluated and executed investment opportunities in several industries including retail, chemicals, energy, industrials and consumer goods.
Prior to joining Rhône in 2008, Giancarlo worked as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company, where he worked on a broad range of projects for industrial and private equity clients. Before joining Bain & Company, he worked in Siemens Italia.
Giancarlo holds a Degree from Politecnico di Torino and a M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago. Giancarlo received an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.
Francesco Lodrini joined Ambienta in March 2011. From 2008 until joining Ambienta he worked in the Milan office of Barclays Private Equity, a €2.4bn European fund focused on mid-market. In BPE he screened opportunities across different industries, performing business and financial analysis, he managed three portfolio companies also serving as a board member, and worked on financial and industrial restructuring initiatives.
Before joining BPE, Francesco was part of the M&A team of Goldman Sachs in London, where he worked on several transactions in the financial institutions’ industry in Europe and emerging markets including mergers, asset disposals, acquisitions, rights issues, performing in-depth financial analysis and valuation first as an analyst and then as an associate.
Francesco started his career with an internship in Poli & Associati in Milan and then worked as a junior consultant for Monitor Group in London.
Francesco holds a master degree at Bocconi University of Milan with a major in finance.
Fabio Ranghino joined Ambienta in March 2011. Before he worked as a strategy consultant in Value Partners Management Consulting for 3 years on projects in Italy, UK, France and Switzerland. He developed broad experience in several different industries including automotive, energy, healthcare services, real estate, industrial and luxury goods. Projects’ scope focused primarily on 3y years strategic plans, operational and financial restructuring and business due diligence for PE. Prior to Joining Value Partners Fabio worked in MBS Consulting as a consultant and in CRS Global Innovations, where he focused on advising SMEs on India-Italy business development.
Fabio holds a Degree and a M.Sc. from Politecnico di Torino in Aerospace Engineering. Fabio received his MBA from INSEAD (Singapore and France) in 2010.
Daniele joined Ambienta in October 2012. Before, he worked in the Transaction Advisory Services division of Ernst & Young Financial Business Advisors for 7 years. He developed valuable experience in financial analysis, in acquisition and vendor due diligence assistance, and in corporate restructuring processes.
As a consultant, he worked on a wide range of transactions on both domestic and cross-border deals and for both corporate and private equity clients in various sectors including energy, telecommunications and industrial products.
Daniele started his career with an internship as financial analyst in H3G in Milan.
Daniele holds a master degree in Business Administration with a major in finance at Bocconi University of Milan.
Maria Cristina joined Ambienta in June 2010. Previously she worked within Mediobanca Research Department, focusing on equity research and bonds analysis, and in IG Partners, where she gained a strong experience in renewable energy, being involved in several projects.
Maria Cristina holds a master degree in Economics at Siena University and a master in Merchant Banking at LIUCC.
Linus Lenhard has joined in December 2012 and advises Ambienta in scouting and developing investment opportunities in German speaking and Scandinavian countries. From 2008, until joining Ambienta, he worked in the Munich office of EQT Partners, a Pan-European mid-market private equity firm. During that time, Linus was, among others, involved in the operational restructuring and exit of Strauss Innovation (German Retail Chain) and he was part of the core team to successfully acquire BSN medical (Healthcare). Moreover, he was member of the EQT industrial sector team and had particular focus on industrial deal leads. Prior to EQT Partners, Linus spent more than two years with Allianz Global Investors (Aequitas GmbH), where he focused on investments in listed European small/mid-cap companies. Linus holds a Diplom from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in industrial engineering and business administration and a Master of Science in Finance from the Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya / Escuela de Administracion de Empresas. In addition, he was research student at the Wharton-SMU Research Center in Singapore.

Letizia Olietti has been working for Aureo Gestioni SGR, subsidiary of the ICCREA banking group, between 2001 and the end of 2007. Within Aureo Gestioni SGR she was in charge of planning and control, administration, internal control and anti-money laundering activities.
Prior to that, she worked for the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro group, where she took part in the start up of BNL Fondi Immobiliari and to Lavoro Servizi Previdenziali S.p.A., being in charge of administration, operations and planning and control.
She took also part in the start up of Tamleasing S.p.A within the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro group.
