Milan/London/Düsseldorf, February 18, 2019 – Ambienta SGR SpA, the largest pan-European fund focused on sustainable investing, recently announced the appointment of seven new team additions to continue its European buildout. The team appointments follow other notable strategic events across the last few months, including the close of Ambienta’s over-subscribed third fund in 2018.

Given the leadership Germany has in sustainability and the historical synergies it holds with Italy, Ambienta first opened an office in Germany in 2012 to ensure coverage of this important European manufacturing hubs. Over the past six years, the firm has achieved strong results in Germany including exits of Oskar Nolte and Lakesight and the notable recent doubling of its resources through the hiring of Johannes Bayer, Nicolaas Hackbarth and Lennart Götz.

Johannes Bayer has been hired as a Principal in the investment team and is based in Ambienta’s Düsseldorf office. Prior to this, Johannes was an Investment Director with a leading German mid-market private equity firm for four years, where he was involved in a number of principal and add-on transactions. Nicolaas Hackbarth and Lennart Götz have been hired as Associates, and bring, respectively, management consulting and leverage finance expertise to Ambienta.

To continue its leadership in sustainability, the firm has hired Guido Emanuele Fucci as an Associate to work in the firm’s dedicated Sustainability & Strategy practice. Ambienta’s Sustainability & Strategy team focuses on investigating how Resource Efficiency and Pollution Control trends affect industries and drive investment opportunities. In its regular newsletters, “Ambienta Sustainability Lens,” the team showcases segments of the global economy where businesses are fuelled by those trends. The team developed Ambienta’s Environmental Impact Analysis (“EIA”), its proprietary methodology for environmental impact measurement, and promotes the implementation of the “ESG in Action” program in all of Ambienta’s portfolio companies.

Ambienta’s Investor Relations division has been bolstered by the addition of Nevena Batchvarova, based in Milan. Nevena will focus on serving the funds’ existing and potential LPs, currently consisting of blue-chip institutional investors representing over EUR 10 trillion of assets. Nevena joins with over 15 years of experience as a private equity LP and advisor, having worked in Milan, London and New York.

Additionally, to continue Ambienta’s ongoing success and firm build out, other hires into Ambienta’s Milan office include Andrea Florio as an Analyst in the investment team and Marco Riva in the Administration.

Nino Tronchetti Provera, Managing Partner and Founder of Ambienta, said “Since 2007, Ambienta has grown significantly because we proved that investing in sustainability-driven businesses allows for top decile returns.
