Icq Holding

Environmental Thesis

ICQ is a Pollution Control investment for the purpose of Ambienta’s investment strategy.

Renewable Energy production is a carbon-free source of energy. Wind, hydro, biogas and biomass plants produce electrical energy from the conversion of mechanical energy of wind and flowing water into electricity and from the conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy (biogas and biomass). Renewable energy is progressively substituting fossil fuel-based source of energy, thus every single kWh of energy produced from renewables leads to a reduction of CO2 emissions. Renewable energy, depending on source, may also reduce emissions of other air pollutants, such as SOx and NOx, when compared to fossil fuel based power generation.

Business

ICQ is one of the most important Italian players in the development, construction and operation of own and third party plants from diversified renewable sources: biogas, wind, hydro and biomass, with an installed capacity of 128,3 MW (of which 102,8 MW is consolidated) and a pipeline of projects of almost 400MW. In 2011 the group delivered energy production of 262 GWh (211 GWh consolidated) and reached €39.3ml revenues and €14.4ml EBITDA (before non-recurring costs and other adjustments). Today, the group employs around 80 people.

Founded in 1982 as an environmental consultancy company, over the years ICQ has gained a remarkable experience as developer, with over 1.200MW of projects developed and sold to third parties. Today, ICQ spreads over the entire chain of the energy production from renewable sources, through a number of subsidiaries that offer a specific knowledge for the evaluation, authorization, construction and management/(operation) of wind, hydro, biogas and biomass plants. ICQ is the third largest player in Italy in the field of biogas from landfill. Furthermore, the group offers Energy Saving services to companies and public entities (ESCO).
