Safim is engaged in the design, manufacturing and distribution of mission-critical and highly engineered components for hydraulic systems equipped on off-highway vehicles. The company is based in Modena (Italy), one of the leading districts globally for mechanical engineering, with subsidiaries in the USA, France and India. One of the few companies globally fully focused on these components, Safim is a leading player in its niche, serving premium OEMs like CNH, John Deere, JCB on a global basis. The company operates on different end-markets including agriculture, construction and material handling, which it historically outperformed thanks to its innovative offering and customer centric approach. Ambienta completed an investment in Safim in July 2017 and completed a strategic add-on acquisition in Germany in February 2019. In September 2019 Ambienta sold Safim to DexKo Global Inc., a global leader in highly engineered trailer running gear, chassis and related components.
Environmental Thesis
Safim is a leading manufacturer of critical components allowing the safe and energy efficient functioning of hydraulic systems on-board agricultural, construction and material handling vehicles and trailers. Safim components have a tangible positive impact on the environment, by allowing a 40-70% saving in fuel consumption and emissions compared to alternative products. Such savings are delivered by different products including “trailer brake valves” which enable the braking system for trailers on the towing tractor to be activated only when the trailer is present thus avoiding unnecessary energy consumption, “master priority valves” optimizing pressure among different hydraulic circuits thereby delivering a lower energy consumption, and other components preventing potential oil spillages. These products deliver a reduction of c. 2,500 tons of CO2 emissions and c. 2,500 toe of energy consumption per annum, cumulating and growing every year.
